In area news, 3 people suffered injuries last night following a 2-vehicle alcohol related head-on collision in DeKalb County. The crash took place a short time after 10 on Route 38, just east of Nelson Road.
Reports indicate that 39-year old Corey Akers of DeKalb was east bound on Route 38 and passing a semi-tractor trailer truck. His car collided head-on with a vehicle driven by 18-year old Kyle Donohoe of DeKalb.
Akers fled the scene on foot following the accident and was later apprehended by police.
Donohoe along with a passenger in his car, 41-year old Patrick Donohoe of Malta, received treatment for their injuries at Kishwaukee Community Hospital in DeKalb.
Akers also received treatment for minor injuries at the hospital. He was arrested on the charge of DUI, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, and passing where prohibited on the road.
