A Rockford man was back in Ogle County court this week following a shooting that took place on March 22nd in rural Byron.
20-year old Brandon McMahon has been charged with the felony offense of attempted 1st degree murder along with aggravated battery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Authorities say that McMahon shot 19-year old Wyatt Ackerson of Byron during an altercation at a party in March. Ackerson was hospitalized following the incident.
McMahon has pled not guilty to the charges and demanded a jury trial. He returns to court on July 28th for a jury status call.
McMahon remains in jail in lieu of a $500,000 bond.
He has also been charged with a shooting that took place in Winnebago County earlier this year.
McMahon has done time in prison and was paroled in July of last year. Charges include armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a gang member.
