Progress continues to be made on the extension of the runway at the Rochelle Municipal Airport.
The 1.2 million dollar project began on April 22nd as the runway will be extended to 5,000 feet. It is currently 4,226 feet. Airport Manager Mark Delhotal said the extension should be completed by late July or early August.
Work on the taxiway is scheduled to begin on July 14th with a price tag of $700,000. It will take 56 days to complete.
The city's cost for both projects will be around $180,000.
Chicagoland Sky Diving Center plans to have a concert at the airport on September 13th and 14th. 40 music acts will perform over the 2 days as they expect around 500 people to attend the event.
