Residents in Oregon will not see any improvements in the downtown area this year.
City officials were informed this week that the Illinois Department of Transportation has delayed the project due to environmental studies. Bids for the work will most likely be approved sometime in early 2015.
Oregon received a state grant for the project which totaled $525,760 in January of 2013. It includes new street lights, sidewalks, along with curbs and gutters for the downtown area.
The work will be done on both Route 64 and Route 2.
The total cost of the project is just over $657,200.
