Residential and Commercial customers in Rochelle will see an increase May 1st on their water and sewer bill.
The council approved the proposal last night in a 5-0 vote. Absent from the meeting were councilmen Ed Rice and Dennis Berg. Superintendent Kathy Cooper talked about the increase in rates for the averaged RMU customer. Their monthly bill would go up about 5 dollars a month in the 1st year and around a dollar each month for the final 2 years.
Cooper said that the additional money will be used in several projects.
The new water tower on the south side of town will be in operation in 3 to 4 years. This will give Rochelle 4 water towers for the community.
City officials approved the proposal to have an Adopt-A-Road program. There will be 16 routes involving roads in the Hub City. Volunteers in the community would clean up a section of the street twice a year.
