Charges have been filed against a Rockford man following a shooting that took place on March 22nd in rural Byron.
20-year old Brandon McMahon has been arrested on the charge of attempted 1st degree murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, and aggravated discharge of a gun. Other charges include possession of a weapon by a felon and gang member.
Authorities say that McMahon shot 19-year old Wyatt Ackerson of Byron during an altercation at a party last month. Ackerson remains hospitalized following the incident.
18-year old Rachel Deiter of Machesney Park has also been arrested in connection with the case on the charge of concealing or aiding a fugitive. Bond was set at $75,000.
A juvenile may have also been involved in the shooting, but no arrest has been made at this time.
McMahon was arrested a short time after the shooting in Winnebago County. He remains in the Rockford jail following a shooting in Winnebago County.
McMahon has done time in prison and was paroled in July of last year. Charges include armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a gang member. The cases took place in Winnebago County.
