Illinois lawmakers are working to increase the penalty for motorists who violate Scott's Law. The legislation requires drivers to yield to emergency vehicles that have their flashers going. State Representative Mike Bost says he supports a bill that will increase fines from a maximum of one thousand to ten thousand dollars. If the violation results in a death, the driver could be charged with a felony and serve jail time. The bill passed in the Illinois House unanimously on Friday and now is headed for the Senate.
