The initial wave of hiring will begin soon as the Thomson Correctional center comes back to life as a federal prison. The Federal Bureau of Prisons is advertising 15 jobs on USAJobs.gov, the federal government jobs website. The federal government will spend 10-million-dollars to renovate the prison, which never fully opened when it was owned by the state. Eventually, when the prison is fully operational in about two years, it's expected to employ about a thousand people.
