Suburban man receives 30 year prison sentence in the shooting of an NIU student

21-year old Chaz Thrailkill of Markham, Illinois has received a sentence of 30 years in prison for the 2011 shooting of an NIU student.

The victim was 22-year old Steven Agee of Park Forest. He was shot in the chest during an argument at an off-campus party. Thrailkill was not a student at NIU at the time of the shooting. He was visiting a friend when the altercation took place.

Thrailkill received a sentence of 25 years in prison for 1st degree murder and 5 years for attempted aggravated discharge of a firearm. He pled guilty to both felony charges 2 weeks prior to his trial date.
