A Rochelle man pled guilty in Ogle County court Tuesday in connection with a sexual assault incident that took place in January of 2013.
22-year old Cruz Lara was arrested on the Class "A" misdemeanor offense of criminal sexual abuse. Under the plea agreement, the state dismissed the 3 counts of the felony offense of aggravated criminal sexual assault.
Authorities say that Lara knew the victim, a 16-year old girl at the time of the confrontation. Rochelle police 1st received word of the incident in August of 2013.
Lara received a sentence of 2 years probation. He must also register as a sex offender for 10 years and have no contact with the victim.
