One of the country's most politically active unions is taking issue with Senator Mark Kirk's characterization of it as "corrupt." Kirk told interviewers that the Service Employees International Union was "particularly corrupt" and has been running the state of Illinois. The SEIU said Kirk is acting as a surrogate for GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner by repeating his anti-union remarks. The union pointed out that when Kirk was a congressman, he asked for and received a 25-hundred-dollar contribution from the SEIU.
