Voters in Ogle County wanted a change for their Sheriff and State's Attorney as Brian Vanvickle and Eric Morrow were winners yesterday in the General Primary Election.
Vanvickle won the Republican race for Sheriff with 36 percent of the vote. The incumbent, Michael Harn, came in 2nd place with 35 percent of the vote with Joe Drought receiving 29 percent. Vanvickle had 136 more votes than Harn.
The Democratic Party had no candidates on the ballot for Sheriff in Ogle County.
Eric Morrow defeated incumbent Mike Rock on the Republican ballot for State's Attorney. He totaled 53% of the votes compared to 47% for Rock.
The Democratic Party also did not have a candidate on the ballot for State's Attorney
Residents in Stillman Valley also approved the sales tax increase for infrastructure improvements in the village. It passed 64 percent to 36 percent.
It will be a 1 percent sales tax increase in Stillman Valley
Residents in Lee County also want a new Sheriff. John Simonton defeated incumbent John Varga on the Republican ballot 3,156 votes to 2,411.
The Democrats did not have a candidate for sheriff in Lee County.
Congressman Adam Kinzinger was an easy winner yesterday as he totaled 80 percent of the vote in his primary race against David Hale.
The turnout in Ogle County was a little higher than officials anticipated. 31 percent of registered voters went to the polls.
