Rochelle police set new record for service calls in 2013

The Rochelle police department set a new record for total service calls in 2013 with more than 22,370. That's an increase of over 44% from 2012 which totaled 15,515.

The department was down in numbers in numerous categories. They included burglaries, thefts, along with accidents and domestic altercations.

Only 2 areas saw an increase in numbers. There were 9 stolen vehicles in last year compared to 4 in 2012.
There were also 14 attempted burglaries, an increase of 11.

Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby also said that the officers got his message to be more community minded when patroling the streets last year.

The 2013 annual report is in memory of former Police Chief Robbie Buck who pasted away last year.

The department currently has 21 full-time officers.
