U.S. Senator Dick Durbin wants a federal investigation of this week's tollway crash in Aurora that left a tollway worker dead and a state trooper badly burned. The trucker whose rig caused the crash Monday night had allegedly been driving for more than 30 hours with less than four hours sleep. Durbin today asked federal investigators to determine whether the driver or his employer violated rules that limit the number of hours a driver can be behind the wheel. The driver, Renato Velasquez of Hanover Park, is already facing state charges for driving while fatigued and falsifying his records.
