Area residents are faced with bitter cold temperatures today. The low this morning has hit 16 below zero.
The wind chills range between 30 to 40 below zero.
The wind chill warning will remain in effect until 9 Wednesday morning.
The high today is expected to be zero to 4 above. The low tonight will range between 7 to 11 below zero with wind chills at 20 to 30 below.
Things warm up a little for Wednesday with a high temperature of around 20 degrees.
Area residents are reminded that many of the major highways and rural roads remain slick with ice and snow on the pavement. There remains drifting in certain areas.
Illinois 251 was shut down for periods of time yesterday due to cars going into ditches.
The snow ordinance remains in effect in Rochelle and other communities today. People should park their car on the even numbered side of the street so that plows can clear the pavement.
