The Rochelle City Council met for only 10 minutes in open session last night with a light agenda for their 1st meeting of 2014.
City officials approved the purchase of a new fingerprinting system for the police department at a cost of just over $23,600.
Police Chief Eric Higby talked about the importance of this machine....(Time: (:17), out: well).
The new system replaces a 2005 model which is currently inoperable and parts not available. Chief Higby talked about the different features of the new system....(Time: (:33), out: duties).
There is currently no charge the city issues for a background check involving an individual. No bids were taken on the purchase as the item was budgeted for the police department.
The vote was 6-0 for the purchase. Councilman Dennis Berg was absent from last night's meeting.
The council met in executive session for around 20 minutes to talk about pending litigation. No action was taken.
