Rock Falls police investigating shooting that left 2 people dead

In area news, Rock Falls police are investigating a shooting that took place early Saturday morning outside of a bar which left 2 people dead and 2 others injured.

The shooting occurred in front of Lamb's Tap on West 2nd Street in Rock Falls. A 34-year old Rock Falls man had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on the sidewalk.

2 Sterling men, ages 37 and 22, were also shot from the altercation. They received treatment at area hospitals.

A 40-year old man from Sterling was the prime suspect in the shooting. Police located him to the 300 block of 6th Avenue in Sterling. He then ran into a home.

A short time later, police heard a gun shot and found the man dead in his garage from a self-inflicted wound.

The shooting remains under investigation. Lamb's Tap in Rock Falls was open for business yesterday.
