If you want to apply for a concealed carry permit in Illinois, you'll have to do it via the Internet. The Illinois State Police says they're not set up to process paper applications, plus they say the online application is cheaper and promotes easier communication among the state agencies involved in the permit process. Those online applications will be taken beginning in January and the state expects some 400-thousand applicants in the first year alone. Other state agencies, including the Department of Employment Security and the Department of Natural Resources are also moving toward an online-only system for applications.
