Illinois State police have released the name of an Ohio man killed Friday morning in a shooting that involved a Conservation officer.
30-year old Shane Cataline of Toledo was pronounced dead at the scene.
Reports indicate that the Conservation officer shot Cataline after he allegedly attacked an Illinois State trooper during a traffic stop on I-88 near Rock Falls. Police say that Cataline used his vehicle to pin the trooper against his squad car.
The incident is being investigated by the Illinois State Police. Anyone with information about the altercation should call 632-4010, extension 220.
As standard procedure, both officers are on paid administration leave following Friday's incident. I-88 was shutdown for traffic for nearly 7 hours.
