RTHS board meeting

The Rochelle Township High School district will see a small increase in their tax rate and levy when final numbers are approved next month.

Preliminary figures were talked about last night as the tax rate will go up 2 cents to $2.60 and the levy by just under 1 percent.

The owner of a home valued at $100,000 will see their tax bill increase by $6.60 for the year.

The board heard an update report on changes made in the English Department. The common core standards for the district was the major reason why teachers had to make the change in the classroom for their students.

RTHS has also started a career program this fall for students. Superintendent Jamie Craven said that he wanted a better relationship with local businesses involving the school district. The students may also find jobs at the local companies in the future.

The 8th grade curriculum night at RTHS will take place on December 4th.
