The 8th Annual 2-Ton Thanksgiving Food Drive sponsored by Newstalk 1060 and "The Coyote" was a success yesterday as many area residents donated money and food items for needy families.
This year event took place at Anderson Plumbing and Heating on 1st Avenue in Rochelle as all of the food and money collected was given to the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry.
Around 35 hundred dollars was donated which will be used to purchase turkeys for the area families along with other food items.
Bobbie Colbert from the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry said that more items were donated this year than in 2012 by area residents.
The Rochelle Christian Food Pantry will be distributing the food items donated on Saturday between 10 and noon at Anderson Plumbing and Heating.
The holiday food boxes will be available on a first come, first served basis and do not count against the regular distribution from Rochelle Christian Food Pantry.
