Workers at Rochelle Municipal Utilities continue to repair problems in the system following the severe thunderstorm that traveled through the Hub City on Sunday afternoon.
Electrical power was lost for several hours due to the down lines in the area. Winds were estimated to be over 70 miles per hour from the storm.
The hardest hit area was along Steward Road where 19 transmition poles were knocked down due to the high winds. Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson said that the work to repair the area will begin on Friday.
Olson said that RMU workers are also working on other small areas in the system where lines were knocked down due to tree limbs.
The mayor said that the price tag from the storm for the city has yet to be determined at this time.
