The Ogle County Board approved the new fiscal year budget and appropriation last night which will see a small rise in the General Fund due to an increase in health insurance premiums.
The overall appropriation will total 39.3 million dollars which is lower than the 46.5 million dollar figure a year ago.
Board Chairman Kim Gouker of Byron said that the biggest increase in the budget came from the insurance costs. Premiums rose by 23 percent.
The increase for employees will not begin until January 1st.
The new fiscal year for Ogle County starts December 1st.
The board heard an update report on the sheriff administration building which is expected to cost more than 4 million dollars. It's currently in the construction planning stage. A presentation on the project will be heard in December.
Appointments to the Board of Health last night included Doctor Mark Myers of Oregon, Dentist Thomas Cline of Polo, and Scott Scull of Oregon.
The holiday schedule for Ogle County employees was approved at 13 days. Engineering agreements for a bridge on Maple Grove Road in rural Mt. Morris and a box culvert extension on Freeport Road totaled just over $54,400.
The State's Attorney Appellate Prosecutor's contract for the next year also totals $15,000.
