The 8th Annual 2-Ton Thanksgiving Food Drive sponsored by Newstalk 1060 and "The Coyote" will take place from now until 5 at Anderson Plumbing and Heating in Rochelle. The business is located on 1st Avenue in the Hub City.
All food and money collected during the event will be donated to the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry for needy families in the area.
Cash donations and checks will be accepted as the Food Pantry can then purchase turkeys to distribute to the families. Last year, close to 60 people and businesses donated nearly $4,000 for the Food Drive.
Newstalk 1060 and "The Coyote" will be broadcasting live from Anderson Plumbing and Heating throughout the day to keep local residents updated on the Food Drive. Area residents can also drop off non-perishable items along with money and checks at the WRHL Studios between 8am and 4pm today, tomorrow, and on Thursday.
The Rochelle Christian Food Pantry will be distributing the items donated on Saturday between 10 and noon at Anderson Plumbing and Heating.
The holiday food boxes will be available on a first come, first served basis and do not count against the regular distribution from Rochelle Christian Food Pantry.
