At least six people are now confirmed dead following Sunday’s tornado outbreak in Illinois. Two people were killed near the small town of New Minden in Washington County when an EF-4 tornado ripped across the area around noon, local time. Three people are dead in Massac County after a tornado hit two mobile-home parks in Brookport. One person was killed just east of Peoria when a large twister destroyed a huge part of Washington. Governor Quinn has declared a state of disaster in seven counties
The mayor of Washington in Central Illinois is asking people to pray after an estimated EF-3 tornado destroyed much of the town. One person is confirmed dead following the twister which struck shortly after 11:00 yesterday morning. The National Guard arrived last night and a curfew was in place through the overnight as emergency officials make sure that everyone is safe and accounted for. Witnesses are reporting that entire neighborhoods are completely leveled.
