Community Policing
Thursday, April 27 2017 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Community Oriented Policing is a strategy that begins with a commitment to building trust and mutual respect between police and communities. The practice was officially established at the federal level in 1994 by the formation of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Servcies (COPS) within the U.S. Department of Justice. While implementation depends on individual jurisdictions, it has been effective in improving relations with citizens, in promoting a sense of security, and in reducing crime rates.
Detective John Kaltenbach of the Rochelle Police Department will explain community policing in our area and the challenges of maintaining an effective program.
The League of Women Voters invites the public to attend this presentation at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 27 at the KishHealth System Clinic near Walmart.
