Rochelle Community Hospital will host a SafeSitter Class on Thursday, January 2 from 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in the Training Room. Young children are not always able to communicate their needs and protect themselves. That’s why babysitters must be able to handle whatever situation arises and react appropriately.
These classes teach boys and girls, ages 11-16, how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children. Safe Sitters will learn: what to do if a child stops breathing, how to call for emergency assistance, how to perform basic child care skills (diapering, feeding, etc.), how to entertain children and keep them safe and how to manage the “business of babysitting”.
A fee of $35 covers the program and includes materials. Students need to bring a sack lunch.
Students MUST pre-register for this class by calling Emily Anaya, RCH Foundation/Community Events Coordinator at 815-561-3110.
