DESCRIPTION:Sat Aug 4th I Grand Detour, the John Deere Hammer-In 2012 will be themed '1 Man, 1 Anvil, 1 Plow to 175 Years Later!' and will commemorate the 175th Anniversary of the founding of the John Deere company. At 12:00 noon on Saturday, August 4, there will be an "Anvils Ring" with 175 Blacksmiths at once, striking their anvils to "Ring In" our 175th Anniversary. Other Tradesman will be on hand exhibiting their skills and selling their wares. Basket Weavers, Broom Makers, Gunsmiths, Wheelwrights, Woodwrights and more. An Auction of items donated by the participants will be held from 1-2 PM on Saturday. Auction proceeds will be used by the two supporting Blacksmith Associations for their scholarship programs and future Hammer In events.
