For the purpose of this report, a vacancy was “filled” not when the offer was extended, but when the hire accepted the job offer. A person was recorded as “interviewed” whether he or she was interviewed in person, or over the phone or via e-mail.
During the reporting period of July 22,2007 through July 21,2008. WRHL-AM and WRHL-FM, in compliance with FCC rules, publicized vacancies for both stations by doing the following: With the exception of internal promotions and rare hires requiring unusual confidentiality, Rochelle Broadcasting used the following recruitment methods: e-mail or faxed job vacancy to professional, minority, and women organizations, posted the positions on the station web site, on the Illinois Broadcasters Association website and Allacess.com website, and internally through “word of mouth” and "on-air “ announcements made on both stations.
Long-term recruitment initiatives include and “in-house” internship program involving local college and high school students. The program provides an opportunity for student to learn how to produce commercials, edit, dub and produce programs, newscasts, promotional events and work with talent.
