NewsTalk 1060 WRHL listeners are loyal, educated, and have substantial disposable income.
The programming on NewsTalk 1060 delivers the two most desirable demographic groups in the local area:
Persons 25-54 and Persons 35-64.

According to Nielsen figures, radio still rules… even with teens.
The average adult spends 122 minutes with radio each day with a reach of over 79%.
CDs and tapes garner only 72 minutes with half that audience.
In the third tier are portable audio sources like iPods and streaming with 65 minutes and a reach of only 10.4%.
Bringing up the rear is mobile phone audio with less than 2% reach.
The study says younger demos mix radio with other sources, but still point to radio as their source for new music.

Working with Al Ries, Jack Trout scored several acclaimed books that have become textbooks for marketing, and radio marketing in particular.
When Trout was interviewed for the Portland (Oregon) Area Radio Council he said this:
"The thing that I keep coming back to with marketers is that good marketing is good story telling. How do you tell your story in terms of positioning yourself or re-positioning yourself? There are not a lot of good story telling media out there. Essentially, the best story telling medium out there historically has been Radio."

Trout says radio is the best medium for storytelling because production costs are small and people spend time with radio. Telling your story is where radio shines.  Maintaining sonic branding through memory devices (a music theme, a common voice, rhyme, alliteration, etc.) works to build the brand.
Trout’s advice is to find out why you are different, figure the best way to tell your story (and why you’re different), and then find places to meet your customers/prospects and tell your story there.
Trout claims radio is a primary medium.

Radio is Still the Most Popular Form of Entertainment in the Car . . .
And the Competition Isn't Even Close

No matter how many new options people have to entertain themselves in the car...
you just can't get enough of Radio.
In a new study of how people entertain themselves in the car, 64% say they listen to AM or FM radio... making it the CLEAR number one pick. CD players came in second, with 21%.  All of the other devices, from iPods and satellite radio, to Pandora and eight-tracks accounted for 15%.
